Your tasks

  • Independent design, development and implementation of IT interfaces and data pipelines in the UFZ infrastructure, including data analysis and visualisation of environmental data
  • Independent design and implementation of analyses for a sub-project in the AIAMO project using statistical and scientific data evaluation (of urban air quality data), possibly with AI methods, in close cooperation with stakeholders from science and industry
  • Technical setup of sensor components and instrumentation in the field (including commissioning, maintenance and monitoring of environmental sensors)
  • Where applicable, support in setting up and operating numerical dispersion models on in-house infrastructure or external cloud providers (e.g. MS Azure)

Your profile

  • Completed degree (master's) from a university of applied sciences or university in the field of IT, engineering, electrical engineering, environmental technology, meteorology, environmental sciences, physics, mathematics or a comparable degree programme
  • High level of motivation and initiative in carrying out tasks
  • Communication and teamwork skills and enjoyment of working in an interdisciplinary team
  • Programming skills, preferably in Python, and an interest in developing AI applications.
  • Experience or interest in assembling electromechanical components is an advantage.
  • Interest in, and ideally prior knowledge of, numerical modelling of environmental processes.
  • Very good written and spoken German and English skills.
  • You are willing to take on at least three of the above tasks.
