Student Assistant (f/m/x) - Establishing Galaxy as a transfer tool
The job
Galaxy (https://galaxyproject.org/) is a free and open-source system for data analysis, workflow management, training, tool publishing, and more. It facilitates reproducible, accessible, transparent, and scalable data analyses. At the UFZ, a Galaxy server has been in use for many years, making external software easily accessible. This project aims to demonstrate that Galaxy is an excellent platform for publishing software developed at the UFZ. We plan to develop Galaxy tool wrappers, training materials, and workflows for several UFZ software projects. These tools will be deployed on the UFZ Galaxy server as well as on public Galaxy instances (usegalaxy.eu, usegalaxy.org, etc.), making them available to the general public.

Your tasks
We are looking for a candidate to develop Galaxy tool wrappers for software projects developed at the UFZ. This software spans various domains, including bioinformatics, chemoinformatics/AI, GIS, and modeling. In this project Galaxy tool wrappers are to be developed for software projects that have been developed at the UFZ. This software comes from diverse domains (bioinformatics, chemoinformatics/AI, GIS, modelling, …). On the basis of the developed wrappers workflows and training are to be developed (using the frameworks of the Galaxy training network).
Therefore, the responsibilities include developing Galaxy tool wrappers, workflows, and training materials for existing scientific software developed at the UFZ.
