The Department of Cell Toxicology is offering the following vacancy

PhD position (m/f)

Project start on 1 July 2018, or according to agreement. Working time 50 % (19.5 hours / week), limited to 3 years

Your tasks:

  • Implementation of bioassays for neurotoxicity on the high-throughput platform CITEPro (Chemicals in the Environment Profiler) for automated exposure of cell cultures and aquatic organisms with environmental samples
  • Development /implementation of image analysis and data evaluation
  • Mixture toxicity modelling that links the effects of detected chemicals in environmental samples with the measured biological effect in the samples.
  • Application of the neurotoxicity bioassays to water, sediment and biota samples in collaboration with various environmental monitoring and biomonitoring projects

Your profile:

  • Master's degree in Environmental Toxicology, Environmental Science, Biology or a related MSc program
  • Experience with bioassays and sterile cell culture techniques (essential)
  • ideally experience with image analysis and/or bioinformatics experience (not essential)
  • Excellent English and communication skills
